Part 1: "Beneath the Bark"
Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre
Southampton, ON
March 26th to May 2nd, 2010

We were very happy to be involved in the exhibition of contemporary woodworking called "Beneath the Bark" at the nearby Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, ON. The show was part of a series of exhibitions and special displays highlighting the rich history of the wood industry in the region from the past to the present.

Speke Klein showed a selection of designs from the collection: the Ideal Chair, the Petits Fours Modular Tables and the Think Puzzle Table.

Back in Production!

After six long, and yet somehow fast months, we are thrilled to say that we are back in production! March 1st was the day that the machines were fired up and furniture production is back underway.

Once again, we owe our customers, suppliers and colleagues a very big THANK YOU for your patience during these crazy days!

For those of you who have not heard, Speke Klein's building was destroyed by a class F2 tornado on August 20, 2009. We have been documenting the whole re-building project on our blog SMALL TALK. If you would like to read the story from the beginning, please start here.

Speke Klein goes to the Opera ...

We are thrilled that our solid wood Touch benches were selected by Matthew Lella, an associate of Diamond & Schmitt Architects, for the upper foyer of the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts in Toronto. We fabricated them in a custom wood choice to match the interior scheme, and customized the thickness to give them a stronger presence and to make them more robust for a public space. You can see images of the Touch benches in situ by clicking below and selecting image options 4, 5, and 6.
