WOOD FINISHes
We are often asked about the difference between our two standard finishes - clear matte conversion varnish and hand-rubbed oil. Please refer to our FINISHES page for information about each finish. Please contact us if you have a specific question about a finish in relation to your home.
SOLID WOOD vs. VENEER
The designs in Speke Klein's collection are crafted using top quality hardwood in both solid and veneer form.
Solid wood refers to the fact that the plank of wood is cut straight from the tree. When a piece of furniture in our collection is crafted in solid wood, it can be cut in half and you will see the same wood throughout all the components.
A veneer is a thin (normally 0.6mm) specially cut sheet of wood, which is laid down on a stable substrate (normally MDF) to create a flat surface. The trees that are logged for veneer tend to have beautiful colour and grain consistency, which makes them particularly desirable. Speke Klein uses veneered panels in places where a sleek, flat surface is appropriate to the design, and when the use of solid wood could be problematic due to natural wood movement.
ORDER TIME
Please be aware that Speke Klein’s lead-times differ throughout the year and will be quoted at the time of ordering. Our current aim is to ship furniture within 14-22 weeks from receipt of your order and deposit. If you are ordering through one of our retail partners, lead-times may differ. Quoted lead-times are subject to change without notice.
SHIPPING
Shipping and delivery time ranges from 2-4 weeks depending on your location and requirements.
Shipping charges are based on the item(s) you are ordering. White Glove Delivery including furniture assembly and packaging removal is an added service and an up-charge will apply. White Glove Delivery may not be available at all locations.
